In 2018, following an extensive makeover by the Nomada Hotel Group, the classic roadside motel reemerged as a stylish boutique destination conveniently located steps from downtown Los Alamos. Today, several years since its reawakening, Skyview continues to captivate people from near and far for its unique blend of retro charm and modern luxury, creating a welcoming atmosphere for a memorable escape.
Rooted in history yet reimagined with contemporary flair, Skyview Los Alamos harmoniously blends mid-century style with modern rusticity while preserving touches of its original character, such as the iconic yellow ‘motel’ sign. Embodying this design philosophy, each of the 33 rooms and suites infuses minimalist elegance with inviting warmth. King-sized beds, globally-sourced decor, and thoughtfully stocked minibars enrich each space, while select rooms are further enhanced with fireplaces and private patios featuring outdoor showers and fire pits.
Outside the rooms, the property’s natural landscaping complements the tranquil surroundings, while communal seating areas encourage guests to linger and enjoy a leisurely pace. Central to Skyview’s relaxed vibe is the outdoor pool area, featuring the restored 1950’s-era pool—ideal for an afternoon dip or lounging with a cocktail under the California sun. Just steps from the pool, Norman Restaurant offers seasonal California cuisine alongside craft cocktails, wine, and beer, all served in a chic, retro-modern setting.
Adding to Skyview’s laid-back atmosphere is the picturesque 2.5-acre vineyard surrounding the property. Planted to pinot noir, the grapes are made into Skyview’s signature house wine—a rosé crafted solely for Nomada Hotel Group properties. Acclaimed winemaker Mikey Guiliani of Scar of the Sea Wines creates this rosé, now in its sixth vintage, to embody the essence of a perfect vacation beverage: crisp, refreshing, and effortlessly enjoyable. Upon arrival, guests are welcomed with a complimentary glass of Skyview Rosé, setting the tone for a relaxed getaway.
